When apartment managers in Nashville, Tennessee entered a unit after an eviction, they found the unthinkable: a 7-month-old puppy was near death, starving and so badly neglected he could not stand up without falling over.
The pale, emaciated puppy felt cold to the touch. His collar hung loosely around his skeletal neck.
The puppy had gotten so hungry, he was forced to start eating the furniture.
“He may not have eaten for weeks and was consuming pieces of carpet and a mattress to survive,” said Lauren Bluestone, director of Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC).
Thankfully, MACC workers were able to save the dog's life, and have named him Nugget. But the man thought to have abandoned Nugget, Quincy Taylor, is still wanted for questioning and has yet to answer for this cruelty.
Sign this petition to urge Metro Police to track down Taylor, and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. They must send a clear message that such animal cruelty will not be tolerated, and work to ensure that Nugget's abuser is never permitted to have an animal again.
