PETITION TARGET: Idaho Department of Fish and Game
In Idaho, more than 570 wolves have been needlessly killed by hunters and trappers from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020, the most in the state’s history since 2013, according to Idaho Press.
The ‘trapping harvest’ saw an 86 percent increase, and trappers are profiting off their kills. These wolves have bounties on their lives, with hunters and trappers receiving rewards of up to $1,000 per wolf killed, funded in part by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
Many of these wolves were cruelly left to freeze to death, some breaking their teeth as they desperately tried to bite through traps set by the government. Wolves that didn’t slowly die of hypothermia were brutally shot to death from above in “aerial control actions,” according to a Western Watersheds Project analysis of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service records.
The state is continuing to massacre its wolf population after the removal of Endangered Species Act protections and an extension of the state’s hunting and trapping seasons.
We must stop this violent and senseless killing. Sign this petition urging the Idaho Department of Fish and Game to end the mass slaughter of innocent gray wolves.
