PETITION TARGET: State Attorney’s Office 4th Jud. Circuit
A starving, helpless puppy was found stuffed into a bag and dumped in a trash can in Middleburg, Florida, according to the First Coast News.
The innocent puppy was found by an individual who reportedly heard whimpering inside the trash can, located within a public park, according to the Clay County Sherriff’s Office.
Earlier in the day, the puppy was examined by a veterinarian, who determined the puppy was starving — with ribs, spine, and pelvic bones visibly protruding — and the puppy could not stand or walk. The vet recommended euthanizing the puppy due to pain.
The vet claims that the man who brought the puppy in declined to have the dog euthanized and instead placed the puppy in a bag before leaving. The puppy was later found dumped in the trash.
A man has since been arrested and charged with a felony (animal cruelty) and a misdemeanor (abandonment of an animal).
This puppy did not deserve to suffer the pain of starvation or fear from being discarded like trash.
Sign our petition urging the state attorney to treat this case with the severity it deserves — including a lifelong ban on having animals for the person responsible for dumping this defenseless puppy.
