PETITION TARGET: Fort Lauderdale Police Department

A starved, 3-month old pit bull puppy was found dead near a crate covered in feces and vomit by the side of a road in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

A man who found the lifeless and malnourished corpse called police officers, who said the puppy was so severely malnourished that his ribs were visible. Officers determined the puppy likely had not been dead long since flies were buzzing around his body — meaning the puppy likely had been alive when dumped, according to news.

The puppy’s front leg was bent at an odd angle and his ears were cropped very short, which officers said means a backyard breeder could be responsible.

Officers are now seeking the person responsible for this horrific act of intentional and fatal abandonment.  They also are seeking felony charges because the puppy died a slow and painful death.

No defenseless puppy deserves to be cruelly abandoned and left to starve to death.

Sign our petition urging the Fort Lauderdale Police Department to use all resources available to identify the person(s) responsible for this gruesome act, forward felony charges to a prosecutor, and request a lifelong ban on owning animals.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about this crime to contact Detective Ralph Bouyett via email at [email protected] or via phone at 954-828-5639. Information can be provided anonymously by contacting Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
