A sweet puppy was tied up and thrown in a dumpster to die before caring animal control officers rescued her in Pittsburg, Texas.
Someone intentionally bound the puppy’s back legs together and also tied her mouth shut – likely to prevent her from making noise, according to news reports – before cruelly dumping her in the dumpster.
Animal control officers, acting on a tip, recovered the shaken and scared dog, now named Spirit, and rushed her to the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter.
Veterinarians discovered ant bites on the poor animal’s stomach but no microchip or other identification.
Police are trying to pin down the perpetrator, who will face a count of cruelty to a non-livestock animal – a third degree felony with maximum fines of up to $10,000 and prison time of up to 10 years, according to news reports.
Whoever committed this horrific act of animal cruelty must be found and held fully accountable.
Sign our petition urging the Mount Pleasant Police Department to continue to expeditiously and thoroughly investigate this heinous crime and forward all applicable charges on to a prosecutor.
