PETITION TARGET: Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office
A 3-month-old stray puppy suffered seven broken teeth, bruised eyes, and blunt force trauma after reportedly being punched in the face multiple times and slammed to a metal examination table by a vet tech in Miami-Dade County, Florida — all reportedly for “growling,” according to news reports.
The puppy, a black male Great Dane mix, reportedly growled at a vet tech with the Miami-Dade Animal Services after being muzzled without incident by a different worker, according to an arrest report.
The vet tech then reportedly grabbed the muzzled puppy by the throat and started choking him before slamming him onto the examination table.
The long-time animal services employee then reportedly punched the puppy in the face at least four times — resulting in fractured teeth, bruised eyes, and blunt force trauma, according to a veterinarian and forensic doctor who evaluated the animal.
Authorities have charged Raudel Perez with one count of animal cruelty with intent to injure. Perez denied causing the injuries to the puppy but has since been fired by the animal services department.
Whoever caused the horrific injuries to this defenseless puppy must be held fully accountable for their actions.
Sign our petition urging the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office prosecutor to treat this case with the severity it deserves, including obtaining a maximum ban on owning or working with animals, any needed intervention services including counseling or anger management, and for the person(s) responsible to cover all costs of the puppy’s recovery.
