A police bloodhound named Bruno was found dead in southern Italy after allegedly being fed dog food filled with nails, according to CBS News.
The bloodhound, credited with finding nine people during his career as a sniffer dog, was reportedly intentionally targeted for his trainer’s involvement in rescuing dogs from dogfighting operations.
The suffering he likely endured—as the sharp metal tore through his insides and shredded his internal organs—is unimaginable and deeply heartbreaking.
Although no suspects have been officially named or charged, the trainer has provided authorities with the identities of two individuals he suspects may be behind the attack.
Bruno spent his life saving others, only to die in a brutal and senseless way — allegedly killed to send a message to his trainer, as if his life meant nothing at all.
