A young husky named Harley was found dead and decomposing, his teeth biting the cage in an apparent attempt to escape, in an abandoned Las Vegas home.
Police, who obtained a search warrant to enter the apartment, discovered the deceased dog in his own waste in a cage with no water, according to news reports.
They estimated that the Harley likely died from starvation and dehydration days prior.
Authorities have arrested the dog’s owner, who is facing charges of animal abuse. The individual was also the subject of a separate animal complaint last year, when animal protection found the apartment covered in feces, according to news reports.
It’s crucial that whoever committed this act of cruelty is held fully accountable.
