PETITION TARGET: Bexar County Criminal District Attorney
A horse and pony were found severely emaciated and starving in a ‘makeshift stable’ in Bexar County, Texas, WOIA News reported.
When the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) arrived at the property to investigate an animal cruelty case, they quickly found the neglected animals. Not only was their shelter inadequate, but all three buckets in their stall were empty.
“The deputies unlocked the stable, and both animals quickly made their way to a grassy area, displaying signs of hunger,” BCSO wrote on Facebook.
No animal should be locked up without access to adequate food and water.
Police took the horses and brought them to a medical facility for care. The man who claimed to be the animals’ guardian was later charged with animal cruelty. He allegedly told the officers the animals were in poor condition before he brought them to the property but admitted that he hadn’t brought them in to get veterinary care.
Sign our petition urging the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney to treat this case with the severity it deserves and hold the person responsible accountable for their neglect of these defenseless, innocent horses.
