PETITION TARGET: Des Moines Police Department
A helpless dog’s head stuck out of a black plastic garbage bag that was secured around his body with tape — making it impossible for him to walk — when he was discovered near a railroad viaduct in Des Moines, Iowa, according to AP News. He was apparently discarded like trash and left to suffer.
The innocent dog was spotted by a man driving by and taken to the city’s Animal Services facility for veterinary aid — where it was discovered that the bulldog was emaciated, according to Des Moines Police. He weighed a mere 23 pounds when he was found. The bulldog is reportedly recovering — but he never should have experienced this apparent act of cruelty.
No animal should endure the helplessness and fear this dog must have felt as he lay immobilized by the roadside. The person responsible for this defenseless dog’s pain must be identified, before any other innocent beings are harmed.
Sign our petition urging the Des Moines Police Department to investigate thoroughly to find whoever is responsible for abandoning this dog.
Police ask anyone who might recognize this dog to call the Des Moines Police Department at 515-248-6052 or submit an anonymous tip at www.crimestoppersofcentraliowa.com.
