After Kimber the Labradoodle injured her leg on farm equipment in Kirkwood, Pennsylvania, her guardian allegedly used scissors to amputate part of the limb himself instead of seeking veterinary care, reportedly leaving her to suffer for several days following the procedure, according to local news.
Authorities found Kimber with blood-matted fur and a chunk of her hind leg missing, exposing bone. Further examination showed that she was severely anemic from acute blood loss, had an infected wound, and was infested with fleas and ticks. If the injury doesn’t heal correctly, she risks losing her leg completely.
The alleged offender in this case faces two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of cruelty to animals. He was also ordered to surrender all of his dogs to the Pennsylvania SPCA.
Deliberately denying Kimber critical veterinary care and performing a brutal home amputation is inexcusable and shows a complete disregard for her well-being, leading to horrific suffering for this innocent dog.
Sign our petition urging the Lancaster County District Attorney to prosecute the individual responsible to the fullest extent of the law — including mandating intensive psychological intervention and a lifelong ban on having animals.
