PETITION CLOSED
PETITION TARGET: Benton Police Department
UPDATE (10/28/2024):
A Benton Police spokesperson said they could not develop a suspect in this case, and the investigation is inactive. The dog, now named Pumpkin, was treated at a local veterinary clinic and adopted by the vet technician.
Lady Freethinker thanks the more than 39,000 supporters who signed the petition demanding justice for Pumpkin. While we’re disappointed that the case went cold, we’re grateful to the veterinary clinic that took such good care of Pumpkin and the vet tech who fell in love with the sweet dog and gave her a happy home. —Lady Freethinker Staff

An innocent dog was found wandering blindly with adhesive spray foam hardened over both of her eyes in Benton, Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.
When Benton Animal Services located the terrified and exhausted young dog, she was lying down alongside a residential road about a block from a busy interstate.
After a vet carefully removed the hardened foam, an imprint could still be seen on her tender skin. The adhesive foam appeared to have pulled out some of her facial fur and left red welts along her forehead.
Benton Animal Services told Lady Freethinker they are investigating a potential suspect, but no charges have been made yet.
No animal should have to suffer such a merciless act of cruelty.
We applaud Benton Animal Services for their continuing investigation of this cruelty. Please sign our petition urging the Benton Police Department to ensure that the individual(s) responsible is apprehended and held accountable before they have the chance to harm another animal and/or human.
Anyone with information is asked to call or email Benton Animal Services at (501)776-5972 or terry.parsons@bentonar.org.
