PETITION TARGET: Florida Sixth Judicial Circuit State Attorney
Dexter, a trusting black and white bulldog mix, was found decapitated in Pinellas County, Florida — a mere day after he was adopted.
The four-year-old dog’s body was found floating in the water and wrapped up in plastic among the mangroves at Fort Desoto Park, local news reported. Dexter’s microchip led police to the man who had adopted Dexter from Pinellas Animal Services the day before.
The man who adopted the innocent dog admitted to traveling to the park where Dexter’s body was found, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Dexter was an affectionate young dog looking for his forever home. He deserved a safe, loving home. He did not deserve to be dumped like garbage.
“This little boy was so sweet and so wonderful,” one of the shelter’s volunteers told news reporters. “All he ever wanted to do was get on your lap.”
No dog deserves such a gruesome fate.
The man who adopted Dexter has been charged with animal cruelty.
Sign our petition to urge the Pinellas County State Attorney to prosecute the person responsible for this heinous crime to the fullest extent of the law — including a lifelong ban on ever having animals again.
