Cold, starving and abandoned in a field in County Roscommon, Ireland, a helpless two-year-old dog was found chained to a post nursing six newborn puppies, with no food or water in sight.
Whoever chained and abandoned the dogs is still out there, and could be abusing more animals right now.
After a good Samaritan found them, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) took the dogs in and provided veterinary treatment. It is not clear how long these poor pups were left out in the rain and cold.
“Leaving a young dog only two years old tied up without water, food or shelter most definitely put her along with her young puppies’ lives at risk,” said Hugh O’Toole, ISPCA’s center manager. “With the recent level of rainfall and cold weather this week, the outcome could have been very different and I’m happy we were alerted so we could help them.”
We must take action so no poor animal is left to suffer the same fate at the perpetrator’s hands. Sign this petition to urge authorities to use every resource to find whoever did this.
The ISPCA is requesting anyone with information about this to contact them via their helpline at 1890 515 515 or through their website.
