Just like his father before him was gunned down two years ago by dentist Walter Palmer, Cecil the Lion's 6-year-old son has been mercilessly shot dead by trophy hunters in Zimbabwe.
It's time to stop the killing.
Murdered for "sport" in the prime of his life, Cecil's son Xanda had been fitted with a GPS collar. Able to track his movement, officials received signals that Xanda the lion had stopped moving on July 7, 2017 in the Ngamo Forest Area of Zimbabwe, just outside of the boundaries of Hwange National Park where he would have been protected. It was later discovered that a big-game hunter had shot and killed him for sport.
Tragically, anyone with a permit is allowed to hunt lions and other animals for "trophies" in this region. We must not tolerate any more killing. With Africa's lion population plunging by nearly 60% in just the last 30 years, swift action is needed to save this majestic species.
Sign the petition to urge the government of Zimbabwe to finally take action and ban all trophy hunting in the nation. Every animal must be protected from this brutal fate.
