Fourteen cats were left to fend for themselves inside an abandoned home and were found sick, starving, emaciated — and some dead — in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Police found four cat corpses along with 10 other cats who were malnourished, and some of whom were missing fur, inside the feces- and urine-stained dwelling, where officers found furniture torn apart and flipped over and a strong smell of ammonia pervading the space, according to news reports.
The home reportedly was under foreclosure, and the owners had fled, according to news reports — leaving the cats in the house with no food, water, or means of escape.
Authorities have since charged Meghan Williams, 42, and Robert Gerhold, 59, with 14 counts of animal cruelty.
Whoever left these sweet cats for dead must be held fully accountable.
Sign our petition to urge the Manchester Circuit Court’s Prosecutor Gregory T. Muller to treat this case with the severity it deserves and hold the individual(s) fully accountable for this act of horrendous cruelty, including a maximum ban on owning animals.
