PETITION TARGET: Singapore National Parks Board Director of Prosecution
A helpless cat plummeted 38 stories to a terrifying death after being allegedly stomped on, brutalized, and then tossed off a public housing building in Singapore, according to The Straits Times. Pictures of the innocent cat after the alleged act of cruelty show the agony she must have endured: There are visible gashes on her body and blood is spilling from her mouth. Her ear is also tinged with blood splatters.
Garfield, or “Field Field” as she was affectionately called, was beloved by the community she lived amongst. The little orange cat may have walked right up to her attacker before her death, trusting that she would be treated with compassion. It is devastating to imagine the terror and pain she was subjected to.
Cats are loving companions who do not deserve to be treated with such vicious cruelty. Garfield’s violent death – and the sight of her limp, beaten body – left residents in grief, Asia One reported.
“This sweet soul was cruelly taken from us, thrown down,” one community member posted on Instagram. “The pain and sorrow of this senseless act are beyond words.”
A man has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. It is imperative that the person responsible for Garfield’s pain be held accountable so that no other innocent being suffers the same tragic fate.
Sign this petition to demand that prosecutors treat this case with the severity it deserves — including psychological intervention for the person responsible for Garfield’s abuse and death.
UPDATE (4/13/2026): The man was accused of stabbing four other cats, resulting in four additional animal cruelty charges. He was also charged with torturing another by allegedly slamming them into a wall repeatedly, leaving the animal bleeding from their mouth and nose, bringing the total number of charges to six.
The man pleaded guilty to three charges, with three additional charges taken into consideration during sentencing. He received a 31-month jail sentence and a one-year ban on possessing animals following his release.
