Nearly a hundred innocent kangaroos had their lives brutally ended on Commonwealth land in Australia, according to Police in New South Wales. The corpses of 98 kangaroos were discovered by police after the apparent attack — as well as ammunition and cartridges.
A search warrant led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of firearms. The man was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, harm or attempt to harm a protected animal, and discharging a firearm in a prohibited area, among other offenses.
Kangaroos are intelligent animals who develop long-lasting relationships with their families and companions. They deserve to exist in the wild — not to suffer agonizing deaths with bullets violently piercing their skin as they are killed one by one.
The massacre of these iconic animals cannot be ignored: This is our opportunity to speak up for these innocent kangaroos who were needlessly slaughtered.
Sign our petition urging the Attorney General of New South Wales to use his influence to help prosecute the individual responsible to the fullest extent of the law — before any other innocent animal is harmed or killed.
