A heartwarming rescue unfolded one morning in Cromwell, Connecticut as local emergency services came together to save seven baby Mallard ducks caught in a storm drain and reunite them with their mother, according to local news.

After some people spotted the distressed mother duck and her trapped babies, animal control, police, and firefighters all responded to the scene.

While the mother watched anxiously nearby, rescuers leaned over the open drain, gently scooping up her ducklings in a net and placing them safely into a bag.

Following the rescue, the ducklings were seen walking in the grass toward the woods and rejoined their mother.

“Great job by all with mama duck watching,” the Cromwell Fire Department stated on its Facebook page, commending the coordinated effort.

Just days later, Cromwell Animal Control saved 10 baby wood ducks who had somehow gotten into a basement and several other ducklings who were found on the road.

Lady Freethinker is grateful for the heroic teamwork of the first responders who ensured these vulnerable ducklings were rescued and reunited with their mother.
