A three-legged dog rescued from the streets of Greece has gained a new set of wheels – with help from Lady Freethinker (LFT).

When Zizel was found on the side of the road, she was brought to Laiza Strays, a dog rescue group near Argos, Greece. The gentle pup was likely born with only three legs, according to the team at Laiza Strays. Unfortunately, this meant that Zizel experienced pain when she walked. She also wasn’t able to run or play like the other dogs, and she was very nervous.

Zizel’s rescuers knew that she needed help. Laiza Strays found a local expert who could create the wheels Zizel needed to play without pain — but they needed financial help to make the dream a reality. That’s when they reached out to LFT. Thanks to our supporters who made this project possible, we were able to sponsor custom-built wheels to take the strain off Zizel’s front leg.

“This week Zizel’s wheels arrived and have been fitted,” Liz from Laiza Strays told LFT when Zizel got her new wheels. “I have started working with her gently to get moving.”

Zizel is slowly finding her confidence and building the muscles she’ll need to zoom around with the other dogs at Laiza Strays. Her rescuers hope that she will find a forever home soon, too.

“Zizel started her journey to better mobility and health with a great set of new wheels!” Laiza Strays announced in a Facebook post. “Thank you to our supporters and especially to animal protection organisation Lady Freethinker who are supporting this little project to improve the lives of our special needs dogs.”

Photos of the pup show her grinning with her new mobility device after adjusting to the change. We can only imagine the relief Zizel must feel!

LFT celebrates the progress Zizel is making and is grateful for our supporters who helped change the life of this incredible special needs dog. Every dog deserves the chance to live pain-free in the compassionate care of a family. We can’t wait to see Zizel zooming around in her future forever home.
