A couple in Jacksonville, Florida visited their local humane society intending to adopt one dog but ended up with three, according to The News Tribune.
The lucky trio — Piccolo, Max, and Victor — are all older dogs with health issues.
Piccolo arrived at the shelter near the beginning of February. He’s twelve, has lost most of his teeth, and has a tongue that perpetually sticks out of his mouth.
Due to his age and condition, the Jacksonville Humane Society considered featuring him in its monthly Senior Spotlight for February, which raises awareness for older dogs who need a home.
However, the shelter didn’t have time, as he was adopted before he could be in the Senior Spotlight.
The other two lucky dogs joining Piccolo in his forever home are Max and Victor, who are nine and fifteen, respectively. These “lovable and social pups” prove that age is just a number.
All three were surrendered to the shelter because their previous guardians couldn’t provide them with the medical care they needed.
“We are so grateful to folks like this family who open their hearts and homes to homeless pets, especially those who are older and have some health concerns,” Jacksonville Humane Society Community Engagement Manager Samantha Ahnen said.
Lady Freethinker is delighted to witness this senior trio’s happy ending and is pleased to know they will spend their golden years with adoring guardians.
