Just below the water’s surface at a Miami, Florida, boat ramp was a heartbreaking sight: A dead dog, believed to be a golden retriever, had two cinder blocks tied to their legs with zip ties and their own leash, according to local news.
The dog’s body reportedly showed signs of decomposition, and the man who found them believed they had severely injured their hind legs while struggling to keep their head above water — a devastating possibility suggesting the animal may have suffered greatly before death.
While the person believed to be the dog’s guardian has been arrested on unrelated charges, authorities must take this suspected cruelty seriously and act swiftly to identify whoever is responsible to help prevent further harm.
