PETITION TARGET: New York City Police Department Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad
Seven community cats were found dead beneath a backyard deck in Brooklyn — bleeding from their noses and mouths. The cats were part of a colony that resident Albert Vincent Berto had fed twice a day for years.
In recent weeks, fewer cats had come to eat. When just one appeared, Berto opened the deck where the cats slept, only to discover their corpses. One was Mr. Wetherby, his favorite.
Local rescuers fear the cats were poisoned. Additional cats and animal companions have reportedly been found dead in other parts of Brooklyn, but the cause remains unconfirmed.
If evidence indicates the cats were intentionally harmed, authorities must identify and apprehend whoever is responsible to help prevent more animals from suffering.
Sign this petition urging the NYPD to thoroughly investigate these deaths and find the person or persons who may have killed these cats.
