An innocent kitten named Nixie suffered terrible burns after three people allegedly set the cat on fire and laughed while filming the cruelty for social media in Cabuyao, Philippines.
Despite rescuers’ attempts to save Nixie, providing veterinary care for third-degree burns and severe blisters, the tiny cat died. Two sibling kittens were also taken into care, while a ginger cat who was reportedly targeted escaped and remained missing.
Police said they had identified three suspects and expected appropriate complaints to be filed. Animal advocates urged people not to repost the footage because even outraged sharing can give cruel content more reach.
Nixie’s short life deserved love and protection, not suffering for clicks. No animal should ever be treated as entertainment.
