PETITION TARGET: Lanier County Sheriff Charles “Nick” Norton and Alapaha Judicial Circuit District Attorney Chase Studstill

Charlotte, a beloved pig companion, reportedly screamed in agony as two bullets fired by a neighbor pierced her body in her family’s backyard in Ray City, Georgia, according to WAFF News. Then, in front of the children of her family, the neighbor allegedly stood over her and slit her throat.

Horrifically, Charlotte remained alive after the attack, and her guardian said responding officers shot her three times in the head, finally ending her suffering.

The man accused of inflicting this cruelty faces multiple charges, including aggravated cruelty to animals, while a second suspect has been charged with providing a firearm to a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.

In the months she lived with them, Charlotte stayed near the family home, learned to climb stairs, and bonded with their dog, according to her guardian. Her individuality and the connections she formed should have been celebrated, and as a sentient being, she deserved to have her bodily integrity respected — not to be subjected to such brutal violence.

Sign our petition urging the Lanier County Sheriff to complete a thorough investigation into Charlotte’s death and the District Attorney to prosecute the individuals involved to the fullest extent of the law — including mandating intensive psychological intervention and a ban on having animals.
