A small kitten is safe after firefighters and animal control officers worked together to free the vulnerable feline from a narrow pipe in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, according to local news.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene on the morning of June 27 following a report of a trapped animal. Upon arrival, they discovered the kitten lodged about four feet down inside a three-inch PVC pipe.
The firefighters tried to reach the kitten but found the animal was too far down to retrieve, so Rocky Hill Animal Control stepped in with a specialized tool known as an Animal Grasper — a long set of tongs designed to capture animals in difficult-to-reach places — and successfully pulled the kitten to safety.
Fortunately, the kitten was not injured during the ordeal and was taken into the care of Rocky Hill Animal Control after the rescue.
Stories like this are a reminder of the important role firefighters and animal control officers play in helping animals in need, as well as the patience, teamwork, and compassion they often demonstrate during these rescue operations.
