PETITION TARGET: 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the Governor of South Carolina

A beloved cat named Ginger was allegedly taken from his porch in Greer, South Carolina, restrained by a group of children, and roughly shaved while they laughed and mocked the defenseless animal, according to local news. The incident was recorded on a video reportedly posted to Snapchat.

Almost a week after he was captured, his lifeless body was returned to his guardian — placed in a plastic trash can, tucked inside a towel, and marked with bruises and cuts.

The terror and suffering this defenseless cat may have endured — surrounded, overpowered, and treated as a source of amusement — is both heartbreaking and deeply disturbing.

With one of the juveniles facing only a petit larceny charge, authorities must treat this case seriously to ensure accountability, deter future acts of animal cruelty, and seek justice for this cat.

Sign our petition urging the 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office to pursue all appropriate animal cruelty charges and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law — including seeking psychological intervention — and calling on South Carolina’s governor to strengthen animal protection laws.
