A two-year-old chihuahua who was cruelly pushed from a vehicle and abandoned on a dead-end road in Surprise, Arizona, earlier this year, has since been adopted by a local police officer and now spends his days boosting morale at the department, according to local news.

In March, the little dog—now called Kismet—was heartlessly dumped out of an SUV as a woman inside said “bye bye” before speeding away. Confused and distressed, he chased after the vehicle, whimpering as it disappeared down the road.

Fortunately, a compassionate passerby stepped in to help, taking the scared dog to the Surprise Police Department. Later, he was transferred to the Arizona Humane Society, where he was vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered — and received plenty of love and care from the staff and volunteers.

From there, one of the officers who had looked after Kismet following his abandonment decided to make him a permanent member of their family. Now, he works as the department’s “facility dog,” greeting staff and bringing positivity, smiles, and stress relief to the office.

“He has a lot of love to give, and we’re prepared to give him just as much love back,” Surprise Police Sergeant Rick Hernandez said.

Lady Freethinker is grateful to everyone who helped Kismet go from abandonment to a loving home, and we celebrate his new role spreading joy at the police department. His story is a testament to the resilience of animals and the life-changing power of compassion.
