A former dog trainer in Indiana – who abandoned eight dogs in horrifying conditions – recently pleaded guilty to eight charges of animal cruelty and will serve jail time, according to WLWT5.
After Timothy Helser was evicted from his dog training facility in December 2021, someone tipped off the Greendale Police Department that he had driven off in a U-Haul and abandoned the dogs.
While investigating the property, police discovered eight dogs languishing in feces and urine with no food or water.
They also found nine deceased dogs and puppies’ remains in garbage bags.
Helser was charged in February of 2022, brought back to Indiana, and arrested in February of last year. He has already served one year of his sentence and is set to be released in February 2026.
“It took a bit to get Mr. Helser extradited back to the state of Indiana on misdemeanor charges,” Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens said. “I am happy justice was served.”
Lady Freethinker commends the Dearborn County Prosecutor and Greendale Police Department for treating this case with the severity it deserves. We are glad to see action taken for these innocent animals.
