PETITION TARGET: Craven County District Attorney
Dozens of dogs were neglected, starved, and denied proper veterinary care while living in unsanitary conditions at a house in Craven County, North Carolina, according to WCTI12.
Animal Protective Services deputies who responded to a requested welfare check found 42 dogs — 35 adults and 7 puppies — without fresh food and water and surrounded by their own urine and feces.
“The overwhelming majority of them were in very poor health,” Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes told news. “Many of them needed immediate medical attention in regard to lack of fur and fleas. None of them had been vaccinated in any way.”
Two dogs had to be killed due to their extreme medical conditions, according to WCTI12. Many of the other dogs will have to recover before they will have a chance of finding loving homes.
The homeowner has been charged with counts of animal cruelty and failure to vaccinate.
This unconscionable case of intentional cruelty must not go unpunished.
Sign this petition to urge the Craven County District Attorney to prosecute the individual(s) responsible to the fullest extent of the law, including a lifelong ban on having animals.
