In a recent bloodbath near Alaska's Denali National Park, a hunter armed with an AR15 semiautomatic rifle shot down 10 wolves. When the massacre was over, he posed proudly for a photo op, holding his weapon high with the wolf carcasses on full display.
There is nothing sportsmanlike about gunning down wolves with assault weapons. Such mass killings devastate wolf family packs and can disrupt ecological systems.
So many wolves have been shot down this year, Alaska ended hunting season early in an emergency order issued March 30. But the damage has been done -- and the state has even admitted they don't know the total number of wolves killed.
It's time to stop the slaughter.
Sign this petition to urge Alaska Governor Bill Walker to stop the mass killing of wolves and other predators and end the hunt at Denali National Park for good.
