On Saturday, September 14th, Lady Freethinker will host our 2nd Annual Hope for Animals night in support of helping save animals’ lives through our investigations, petitions, animal aid fund, and urgent need grants programs. The event will take place at Cafe Gratitude in Venice, CA, with a cocktail hour and silent auction followed by dinner and recognition of some of the top animal advocates in the country.
Our emcee for this year’s event is Jane Velez-Mitchell, a television and social media journalist, New York Times bestselling author, former CNN Headline News host, founder of UnchainedTV, and former recipient of LFT’s Compassionate Voice of the Year Award.

Compassionate Changemaker of the Year
Kristin Bauer
Lady Freethinker is excited to recognize American film and television actress Kristin Bauer, as this year’s Compassionate Changemaker of the Year. Kristin is most known for her role as Pam, the vampire co-owner of Bon Temps’ Fangtasia bar, in True Blood, and Maleficent on Once Upon a Time.
Kristin has been on over 60 TV shows including, to name a few, Everybody Loves Raymond, Dharma and Greg, Just Shoot Me, George Lopez, Boston Legal, and Justified.
Today Kristin lives in Los Angeles with her two rescued dogs and four rescued cats. She splits her time between filming, painting and trying to bring light to things that should not be happening. Nature and animals are her greatest passion as they “Have always given selflessly to me, so much more than I ever could have dreamed or given back. Mother nature is the greatest, most magical artist I have ever seen.” She works many wonderful groups of people trying to make life more fulfilling and fair for other species.
Compassionate Voice of the Year
Lady Freethinker is excited to recognize American Reality TV Star, Blake Moynes, as this year’s Compassionate Voice of the Year. Blake Moynes is a passionate wildlife conservationist dedicated to protecting endangered species and preserving the natural world. As a reality TV personality, he has leveraged his platform to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and inspire action.
Blake has also founded “The SOSA”, a company built on the foundation of working directly with, and supporting, various non-profits in wildlife conservation. Through his individual efforts and collectively with The SOSA, he works to amplify the missions and causes of on-the-ground conservationists and provide resources to those working to protect endangered species.
With a focus on collaboration and community engagement, Blake’s mission is to empower individuals to come together to make a difference in the fight against species extinction.

Compassionate Activist of the Year
Simone Reyes
Lady Freethinker is excited to recognize former reality star, Simone Reyes, as this year’s Compassionate Activist of the Year. Country singer, author, and renowned animal welfare champion Simone Reyes was the breakout star of Oxygen’s reality TV show “Running Russell Simmons” and was also the star of the reality TV show “Pig Little Lies” on Unchained TV, the world’s first program to feature pigs, where she chronicled their near-death rescue and debunked the existence of teacup sized pigs. Vegan Lifestyle magazine dubbed her “The Gloria Steinem of the animal rights movement.”
Simone has used her platform to inspire change in the ways we treat all living species, from negotiating the rescue and provision of sanctuary for multiple cows who escaped from a slaughterhouse in Los Angeles to flying to Taiji documenting the atrocities of dolphin hunts in Japan firsthand. Simone is the Vice President of Communications at Social Compassion in Legislation, using her platform to advocate on national news outlets such as CNN, HLN and Fox, and has spearheaded a highly viewed Tedx talk discussing how we can all use our voices to speak up for animals.
