Neil DeGrasse Tyson is brilliant even in slow motion.

You gotta hand it to Neil deGrasse Tyson for resurrecting Cosmos — filling Carl Sagan’s shoes is, after all, a monumental task. But we can love Tyson and poke a bit of fun at the same time, can’t we? In this slow-motion video, an interviewer asks the science wiz who his favorite physicist is, and he enthusiastically replies “Isaac Newton!”

The rest of the video is basically Tyson explaining just why Newton is so amazingly awesome. What he says is interesting, but the effect of the slow-mo is the real draw here. Tyson appears stoned out of his mind, eyes half-closed while he expounds on the wonder of it all. Great stuff.

I haven’t seen Cosmos yet, but it’s high on my to-do list. Like Tyson, I’m from the Bronx. I even went to PS 81, just like him (OK, so I was just there for summer school one semester. It counts.) He also went to the Bronx High School of Science, just like my dad.

Anyway, take a look at what Neil DeGrasse Tyson would probably look like half-baked. I promise you’ll laugh — and maybe even learn something!
