For years, Libby was tortured for medical research at a lab in rural North Carolina called Professional Laboratory and Research Services, Inc. There, she had no name, just a number tattooed on her ear — 534120.

When the cruel lab was shut down following a PETA investigation, Libby was skeletal, and had rotting teeth, hookworms and tapeworms.

Today, life looks much different for Libby, which is short for “liberation” and also derived from the Hebrew name Libi, which translates to “my heart.”

Living with a kind woman named Jessica, Libby now has “good food, a soft bed, and lots of walks and playtime to fill her days,” says PETA.

Thank you to all who helped give Libby a second chance at life.
