Nobody really knows how this iguana ended up 4 miles out to sea, but the swimming lizard seemed eager to meet a kind boater who was willing to provide a lift back to shore.

After struggling to climb onboard, the iguana eventually accepted the man’s assistance onto the boat. The unlikely pair then motored back toward dry land. When they approached a suitable patch of trees, the iguana leapt from the boat and made it to a branch.

After checking that the seafaring lizard was OK, the boater waved goodbye and left the iguana safely in the animal’s natural habitat.
