In Amboseli National Park in Kenya, a rare set of elephant twins has recently been born. The last birth of elephant twins within the park occurred in 1980 – nearly 40 years ago.

Proud employees of the park are doing everything they can to ensure that the special twins remain in good health, and are monitoring the calves closely. The twins are now two months old and remain close to their mother and older sister for safety.

Amboseli National Park is home to a total of 1,600 elephants, which are grouped into 58 families. Female elephants stay with their families, which consist of grandmothers, cousins, and sisters, for life. Male elephants, on the other hand, leave their families between 10 and 15 years of age.

The birth of the twins brings welcomed news during a time of drought. Watch this video to enjoy the rare, beautiful calves firsthand!
