A group of volunteers are feeding and caring for over 30,000 pets without guardians in Wuhan, China after the animals’ caretakers were stranded outside the city due to a coronavirus lockdown.

The Chinese Government closed off the city on January 23, and without anyone around to provide food, water or medication for these dogs and cats, they faced an uncertain future. Fortunately, a few brave people are helping them.

This heartwarming video follows one volunteer, Ye Jialin, who is also known as the “cat rescuer of Wuhan.” He searches the deserted city streets aiding as many frightened pets as possible. By cleaning litter trays and providing food and water to these helpless creatures, Jialin is putting his own life at risk, but he isn’t worried about his own safety. His only concern is saving the lives of others.
