Roseanne Barr, the controversial actress and star of hit TV sitcom Roseanne, has announced plans to open up a medical marijuana dispensary in Santa Ana, California.

The Orange County Register reported, “The comedian and political activist is becoming a partner in a Santa Ana venture to be called Roseanne’s Joint.” Roseanne hasn’t been shy about her support of medical marijuana, stating that she uses the substance to ease the pain of macular degeneration and glaucoma.

In 2011, Barr starred in her own reality show titled Roseanne’s Nuts, where she documented her life on a macadamia nut and livestock farm in Hawaii. The products grown on the farm will be featured in her dispensary, such as pot-laced, chocolate-covered macadamia nuts.

In a statement, Barr said, “I’m proud to be a cultural pioneer at the forefront of another wave of progress! And we’re proud of the city of Santa Ana as we continue to move into the era of recognizing cannabis as the natural, therapeutic, herbal substance medical science has proven it to be…Roseanne’s Joint will be a responsible, contributing member of, and addition to, the community.”

Other celebrities, such as Woody Harrelson and Tommy Chong, are involved in the medical weed trade as well, helping to popularize the industry. Herzberg, Barr’s former attorney and longtime friend states, “We think it will bring credibility and a good name and frankly, good values. But we also hope that it will create within the community a sense that marijuana is here to stay in California, that it’s getting legitimized and that serious names are coming to the table.”

The building is estimated to be completed in April. According to Herzberg, Rosanne is a lover of natural remedies, and she looks forward to educating patients and providing them with a comfortable environment within her dispensary.
