While some dogs may dream of hopping in the drivers seat and hitting the open road, one yellow lab in Mankato, Minnesota made that dream a reality and got to ‘drive’ a semi truck for a few brief moments. The dog’s joyride was cut short, however, when the truck ran over a tree and crashed into a parked car.
Witness David Stegora saw the accident unfold: “I heard the tree snap and I thought somebody decided to turn around, but then it just kept going forward,” he told the Mankato Free Press.
Stegora couldn’t understand why the truck kept rolling on, or how it was seemingly driving itself since he couldn’t see anyone in it. Then the dog revealed himself by jumping up to the driver’s side window.

It turned out that the truck had been left idling at a gas station parking lot, though it’s unclear whether the dog put the truck into gear himself.
Fortunately, nobody was injured — although it may have been a close call, as a the truck reportedly came dangerously close to hitting the car’s gas tank.
