Cat Born With No Eyelids is All Smiles Now that Eyesight is Saved

Dora and her brother Felix were born with a rare condition in which they literally had no eyelids. As uncomfortable as this may sound, pain was the least of their worries – if left untreated, the siblings were doomed to lose their eyesight forever. Homeless and wandering the streets of Australia, the pair — just 5 weeks old at the time — had almost no hope of survival, let alone finding a loving home. But luckily for this feline duo, some kindhearted people found them and brought them to RSPCA’s Blue Mountains shelter. It was there that rescuers discovered the...

Kitten and Dog Friends Should Inspire Humans to Get Past Our Differences

We’ve all heard the saying that a dog is a man’s best friend, but can the same be said for a kitten?  In the case of Koda, yes. Koda is a five-month-old kitten who recently joined a Canadian family who also owns Jessie, a three-year-old Australian Labradoodle. According to owner Emily Aubrecht, “Jessie instantly became attached to Koda – she must have thought he was her baby.” The two pets perfectly complement each other’s personalities. Jessie is a calm, friendly and easygoing dog while Koda is very young and energetic. They both love the outdoors; Jessie will swim, while...

It May Look Funny, but This Cat Collar Is Designed to Save Birds

Does your cat lovingly shower you with precious gifts of dead and half-dead birds? A new invention may help. The Chirpon collar was designed to warn birds when a cat is on the prowl in their vicinity, stopping the hunt before it ends in tragedy. “I inherited two cats from my kids when they left home,” Steven Crawford, bird enthusiast and inventor of the Chirpon collar, told Lady Freethinker. “I, on the other hand, was more interested in the birds that came to my feeders. I was very distraught to see a cat running by with a bird in its mouth as...

The authorities were brought in, and the cat was rushed to TM’z and eventually adopted by a festival employee.  She has been aptly named “Jamboree” —...

Garbage Man Rescues 6 Kittens Found in Dumpster

On what should have been an average workday of emptying garbage bins, William Grabill of Sacramento, CA stumbled on something very unexpected. Six newborn kittens had been left in a dumpster full of tar and wood pellets. The kittens were so young, they still had their umbilical cords attached. The kind-hearted waste-management worker couldn’t just toss the kittens away with the trash, so he did the right thing and had them placed with the Sacramento SPCA. While nobody knows exactly how the kittens got mixed in with the garbage, Sarah Varanini of the Sacramento SCPA suspects that a mother cat...
