Oregon armed occupation leader Ammon Bundy was arrested Tuesday night and one person is dead after a standoff on US Highway 395, reports Portland’s KATU News.
Bundy and a handful of his followers — Ryan Bundy, Brian Cavalier, Shawna Cox and Ryan W. Payne — were pulled over in a traffic stop while driving to a committee meeting in the city of John Day, about 70 miles away from the Malheur Wildlife Refuge where Bundy and the armed militia had taken over in a now-infamous land dispute. Another man, Joseph Donald O’Shaughnessy, had been arrested earlier.
All of those arrested now face felony conspiracy charges.

It isn’t yet clear who fired first, but local and federal authorities — including state troopers, FBI and other officials — were all present. In addition to the unnamed death — “who was a subject of a federal probable cause arrest,” reports the FBI — one person sustained non-life-threatening injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
